Have you ever been somewhere that just stuck out in your mind? During a recent excursion to Pt. Pleasant to witness a masterful quilt hanging at the Gus R. Douglass farm we happened upon the Heritage Farm Museum on the outskirts of Pt. Pleasant. Their website lists it in Huntington, but I would call it Pt Pleasant more specifically. http://www.heritagefarmmuseum.com/

The quilt hanging at the Douglass Farm was beautiful, but the Heritage Farm Museum was just so unexpected. My coworkers and I were treated to an in depth tour of the museum grounds, from a museum lunchroom, to the world’s largest horse (at one time he was), to three little pigs in a pen, a late 1800’s restored log barn, to the most amazing antique country storefront featuring:
- Antique washing machines
- Cooking utensils and refrigeration
- Spinning and weaving
- Dental and Medical Offices
- Barber Shop

Visit their website at http://www.heritagefarmmuseum.com/ and explore the grounds. If you are ever near Pt. Pleasant or the Mothman chases you out of Pt. Pleasant, look for the Heritage Farm Museum. Once you enter their grounds, it’s a step back in time and a little bit of living history.

Reminder
This place has remind my back days and life of my village. Now the place has become tourist area but still we can feel old tradition and culture. As people are here for refreshment some hotels has arrange Swimming Pools for the visitor. The house made with clay and mud covered by thatched roof gives the reflection of old tradition and the friendly behaviors of local people makes the our stay comfortable. With the change of time we have to change but we should preserve our tradition and culture.

A fine example....
...of the type of business that could really be nurtured and restored to what I imagine was once thriving. There is a wealth of information and just plain cool stuff to see there. Perhaps it was the rain that day, but it seemed a little like we'd wandered into an area where few people had tread recently.
Going back to what Melissa said about visiting there as a child, I wonder how the return visit measured up?

Farm Museum
I have to leave a comment back about this blog, not only because I joined you on this journey back in time, but also due to the fact that I visited this same place over and over as a child. My grandmother took myself and my sister here when we were little and the memories are priceless. Even the other day as we were walking around, I could remember taking those same steps with her. Since she passed away earlier this year, the trip the other day brought back wonderful memories of a simpler time when all I was worried about was getting to see the world's largest horse...before he was stuffed! I would advise anyone, especially those with kids, to take a trip and experience this blast from the past. Even though our trip was on a rainy, miserable day, I will cherish our experience and what it meant to me for years to come. Thanks to my co-workers who humored me and let me share with them a little bit of my past.
