Social media isn’t something that we’re born to do. Yes, we’re social creatures by nature, but you were plenty busy before Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn came along.
Instead of shopping at the grocery store, step out and get a taste of freshness at your local Farmers Market. You can support the local economy and have much healthier options to choose from. In a new book, Real Food Has Curves: How to Get Off Processed Food, Lose Weight and Love What You Eat, authors Bruce Weinstein and Mark Scarbrough offer these questions to ask when you're shopping at a farmers market:
Today marks the 147th anniversary of West Virginia’s statehood. In celebration, Jason Keeling is leading WV bloggers and social media mavens on another exciting project to help build a better West Virginia. What better occasion than the state's 147th birthday to harness the power of social networks to do something good for the Mountain State!
West Virginia State University Extension Service is launching a new community garden project at the Bob Burdette Center located at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Charleston’s West side. A hose-cutting celebration will be held on Saturday, June 19, at 11:00 as part of the city’s FestivALL celebration.
I was able to experience West Coast life for a few days on a work conference trip. I attended a social media and online marketing conference in San Francisco, California. Conference attendees included Extension specialists, agents, program leaders, IT staff and Ph.D. professors learning about this new conversation taking place.
June 1 and the summer season has begun.
Barbecues will be dragged from garages. Tables and chairs lugged and moved to the patio. All this work just to be out in or near the backyard, so we can reward ourselves, after a long hard winter, with finally, finally, being able to eat outside.
Just like animals do. They are lucky enough to get to eat outside all the time. Lucky!
Summer is the time when people get outside and start getting active. With that extra activity comes some extra precautions to be taken. A good first-aid kit is a must whether it's for children, neighbors, or fun-loving adults. To fill your summer first-aid kit, remember the seven S's: sprains, strains, splinters, stings, scrapes, scalds and sun.

Sprains and strains. Your summer kit should contain elastic wrap bandages (2-, 3- and 4-inch wraps are a good start).
